The Annual Urdu Debate competition 2005 of the GC University Lahore was held at the varsity which was contested by over 40 students who spoke on serious and humorous topics. Abdul Basit was declared the best speaker, Mehr Abdullah Hussain stood second while Fatima Batool got third position.

The chief guest Dean Faculty of Arts Professor Dr Sohail Ahmed Khan while addressing the contestants highlighted the significance of the debate competitions in any society and urged the students to adopt oratory as a serious activity, which nourishes their knowledge and speaking skill. He congratulated the debating society for organising this event successfully.
